Domain 2: Classroom Environment.

E: Organizing physical Space

I conducted action research regarding the impact classroom environment has on student achievement. The annotated bibliography linked below demonstrates my continued learning in this aspect of my development as a teacher.

A: Creating an environment of respect and rapport.

I work very hard in my room to teach personal and social responsibility. Student actions are framed with decision based language and they frequently take part in activities extending our topics outside the classroom into the social sphere.

While I was away for a family event two students got into a fight in one of my classes. The substitute assigned for the day was not paying attention and did not report the fight. My students stopped the fight and the student who started the fight went to the office and reported himself. I believe our work as a classroom community set them up to do the right thing.
